Redmen Chorale Organizational Description (2005/2006)
Marquette Redmen Chorale is a 111 member mixed-gender select chorus which is steadily
building a reputation as an exceptionally talented group of young vocal musicians.
As students of the Fine Arts Department of Marquette Senior High School, these
14-18 year olds are working to enhance their performing skills, build their musical
knowledge, and learn to harmonize with each other musically, educationally, and
socially.
Under the direction of a very dedicated Jan Brodersen, they have represented the city
of Marquette in Austria, New York City, and have recently been invited to sing at the
Sidney Opera House in Sidney Australia in an event advertised as "showcasing the
best of America's choral talent," along with other top musicians from around
the world.
These students - as individuals and in groups - enrich our community by participating
in productions such as the recent performances of Les Miserables,
Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, Patience, and a host of concerts put on for
local audiences. Many Redmen Chorale students go on to major in music in
college and return to further enhance the arts and culture of our community.
"Knowledge, the only instrument of production
that is not subject to diminishing returns."
- J.M. Clark
